This device will read codes and real time sensor data from any vehicle that is 1996 or newer. Plugs into the vehicle's OBD2 port and connects the vehicle's computer to your laptop. The USB version will connect to your computer's USB port. It comes with free software that will work with your Windows laptop, but for best results, we recommend downloading the latest version from our website. You'll find the link in the OBD II Scanner Instructions.
The free software available for these scanners used to be pretty rudimentary. But now they have become quite sophisticated. I have a scanner package that I paid $300 for, and I find I'm using our scanner and the free software that comes with it. It gives me full information on my sensors, fuel trims, pending and actual error codes, clear codes, etc. If you are going to be adjusting sensors, then you'll want to use this tool to see what's going on in the computer.
Note, we generally recommend the USB version, if your laptop has a USB port. The Serial Port version is intended for those with older, pre-USB computers.
